About

My name is Delmi Lipe, and I’m a second-year Environmental Studies major from Los Angeles, CA. My UCSB journey hasn’t been defined by big, dramatic moments, but rather by the quieter ones— watching sunsets melt into the Pacific ocean, collecting seaglass after low tide, wandering the Lagoon Path, and exploring the gardens tucked away throughout Isla Vista. These experiences deepened my connection to the environment and inspired my involvement as an intern with the Edible Campus Program, where I organized workshops that invited students to explore how nature nurtures wellbeing.

Looking ahead, I aspire to pursue a Master’s program abroad that weaves together academic research and cultural exploration. I hope to immerse myself in a new environment while contributing to sustainability efforts rooted in community collaboration. In the meantime, I’m excited to connect more deeply with my UCSB peers, uncover Santa Barbara’s hidden gems, and keep growing through shared stories and experiences.

Whether I’m tending my garden, getting lost in a good book, or chasing down the best matcha spots in town, I find joy in small discoveries. One thing I wish I’d known before coming to UCSB is that college can come with pressure to fit in, but authenticity is your strongest compass. You don’t need to mold yourself to match anyone else’s expectations. The right people will be drawn to who you truly are. In a crowd, being unapologetically yourself it's everything.

To our incoming Yardi Scholars: welcome to the UCSB community! As your peer mentor, I’m here to support you throughout your journey. I genuinely look forward to meeting each Scholar, hearing your stories, and being someone you can confide in. I already feel lucky to be part of your path, and I can’t wait for the laughs, learning, and insights we’ll share. Together, we’ll learn, grow, and navigate this experience with curiosity and care.
