Empowering the Next Generation of Environmental Changemakers

Yardi EJ Peer Mentors are driven student leaders who bring a wealth of knowledge, lived experience, and enthusiasm to the scholars they support. Representing diverse class levels, majors, career aspirations, and interests, Yardi EJ Mentors are active contributors to campus life, student organizations, and community initiatives.

Peer Mentors complete specialized training to prepare them to guide incoming Yardi EJ Scholars. They connect with their mentees before the academic year begins, holding weekly check-ins during the last half of the summer to support a smooth transition to UCSB. Once on campus, they continue to provide one-on-one and group mentorship throughout the entire first year, offering guidance, encouragement, and connections to campus resources.

Mentors host social events, maintain office hours, and facilitate community-building activities designed to help scholars thrive academically, socially, and personally. Acting as both role models and trusted resources, Yardi EJ Peer Mentors empower their mentees to navigate challenges, seize opportunities, and cultivate their own identity as environmental changemakers.
