Jeanette Huang

Hi everyone! My name is Jeanette Huang, I am a fourth year Environmental Studies BA minoring in Earth Science at UCSB and I am so excited to be part of the Yardi Scholars Peer Mentor Team this year!

Going into my fourth year, I have been reflecting on my time at UCSB, and what goals I want to set moving forward. Currently, I am one of the Co-Event Coordinators for Seoul'd Out (the KPOP Social org on campus), as well as a member of the Promise Scholars Program, and as of this summer I am part of the LEAF Lab field crew! Post graduation, however, looks like working towards a career in Environmental Consulting or Education, but part of my year will also be spent looking into Grad school options!

Being at UCSB has been such an incredible few years, and every moment has been incredibly rewarding. I think one of my proudest moments this far was getting to present my research poster with my fellow field assistants at the Undergraduate Research Consortium!

But asides from work and education, I am a big fan of sewing and drawing as hobbies. I love arts because the end product isn't perfect, but it's something you made with your own two hands, and it's a way to get away from the academic grind in a lot of ways as well. As a fourth year, I can't stress to all incoming freshman enough how important it is to both put in the time and energy into your studies and grades AND also your mental and physical well being. I think it's safe to say the motto of UCSB is, "Work hard, play hard."

All in all, I can't wait to meet you all and I can't wait to make this year something special together!
