My name is Malaika Longmire. I am from Bakersfield, CA, and I am a pre-biology major pursuing a degree in microbiology. Once I graduate, I plan to attend medical school and become a pathologist!
In my free time, I love watching TV shows, journaling, and crocheting. A few goals I have this year are to join the orchestra (I play the violin), figure skate more often, and earn my phlebotomy license.
At UCSB, I am especially excited to join the swim club and explore different disciplines by taking a wide variety of classes. Although I love biology, there are so many other fields that interest me, so I am excited to have the opportunity to explore them. As a Yardi Scholar, I hope to develop the knowledge and skills that will help me advocate not only for the environment but for communities too.
